Dutiful Dates

For our members living in the United States, November is not just about turkey and pumpkin pie. There are other important dates to remember as well--Election Day on November 4th and Veterans Day on November 11th. Both days are very important to our country and should be observed accordingly.

On Election Day, do your civic duty by exercising your right to vote. This year in most states, candidates are vying for offices such as mayor, council member, judge, commissioner, and sheriff, to name a few. For more information on Election Day in your area, contact your local Bureau of Elections or Department of State. And for fun ways to get the kids involved, check out Congress for Kids: Election Day.

Veterans Day is the day we remember all the men and women who have fought for our country's freedom. Check out this site if you are interested in learning about The Origins of Veterans Day. And here are links to the sites for the The World War One Memorial, WWII Memorial Page, Korean War Veterans Memorial Page and Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Page. For some great craft ideas to help your kids remember, check out the Kids Domain: Salute to Veterans page.

We hope this information will help you learn more about the patriotic aspect of this great month.
