War With Iraq: The "Troops" Behind the Troops
Many times our men and women that serve in the military are put on the front line. They are heroes in the world’s eyes, fighting for our freedom, and even fighting for other countries' freedom. Sent out in platoons, they depend on each other for support. They face what lies ahead together. This is a job that requires a willingness to lay one's own life down for Americans everywhere, no matter what the outcome. Yes, they are truly heroes.
There are other heroes that do not ever get to go to the frontline. These “soldiers” are in a battle of their own, a battle that requires them to lay down their lives over and over again in more ways than one. These “soldiers” have many skills, but no real training to prepare them for what lies ahead. Many times, they are the forgotten ones, because they are not out in the midst of the danger. They too have a platoon, a platoon of eyes constantly watching for signs of fear. Their platoon is more needy; it requires these “soldiers” to remain strong, making sure nobody ever sees them sweat. These “soldiers” are called Military Wives.
The mission of Womens-Place is to give women all around the world a place to gather and support one another regardless of time, space, race, or beliefs. Every woman has a voice that matters. We are dedicated to every voice being heard and information being available to everyone. We wanted to make sure the voices of the spouses of our bravest are being heard. We have looked within our community and asked our Military Wives to let us take a look into their lives. Below are the wonderful stories of our sisters holding their families together for the love of a man and a country. They will inspire you!
